Is sbmdl.dll safe or is this task spyware?

Purpose of sbmdl.dll:

File purpose and description:

sbmdl.dll is a program that was installed by you at sometime after you had purchased your computer, this would not have arrived as preinstalled software on your computer. Always double check the disk location as shown below, as that will help verify if it is spyware or virus related, or if it is installed in the proper disk location. The folder location is shown below. This sbmdl.dll DLL program will run as a BHO in your Internet Explorer browser. This has been reported as an adware and trojan related program. Action should be taken immediately to remove this. Since it appears in your system startup, you should remove it from your system startup as a BHO (runs in web browser) and reboot (and verify it is no longer there after rebooting). You will also see the task running in your processes list on the task manager. You may also find the scit.exe file installed with this, both should be removed. If this were on my computer, I would take action to remove it immediately. You may want to use a BHO remover to toggle BHO on or off if you are concerned about these in the future (if you do not have a BHO program then you can use Complete Cleanup, which comes with a BHO on/off button and a BHO remover). (See the details below for the actual location of this file.)

General information:
Be aware that many tasks will be similiar names to existing tasks or processes. You can always view the running tasks on your computer by pressing ctrl-alt-del to view the windows "task manager", and then view the "processes" tab. This will show you all tasks running or currently active on your PC. Although this shows you all running tasks, it does not show dll file thats are loaded, as they get loaded as part of other processes. Many spyware writers attempt to hide their files on your computer, for example, sbmdl.dll may be intentionally misspelled to look like a similiar task, or spyware may be named very similiar to a Windows system task. The reason they do this is so you cannot easily recognize the name in your tasklist as I have mentioned above. Make sure always check the location of the file if you are concerned. You can always find the location of sbmdl.dll on your computer by using your Windows search options, but I will also try to list the file location of every file described on this website, so you can verify the correct location. You can view the entire tasklist directory with the link below.
