File purpose and description:
This is part of an add-on to Microsoft messenger, and it adds additional features to the Microsoft messenger. Note that it may come with adware and cause popups as reports have been sent on this relating to popup advertising. This MsgPlus.exe file is considered a safe file, and it is not considered to be spyware or virus related software. This is also typically found on older computers like Windows 2000, as the names have changed over the years and the instant messengers have also changed along with them. Anytime you get an instant messenger add-on, you may get some popup advertising messages so you can disable it if you wish. (See the details below for the actual location of this file.)
Actual file or task name: (Note that you can view the entire list here)
This is an executable program file.
File or folder location:
This can be found on your hard drive at : C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3 (Note that many spyware programs will attempt to change locations or hide from detection, they will also closely mimic known file names). This has been known to come with adware, you may want to consider removing if you have begun getting popups after installing this.
Be aware that many tasks will be similiar names to existing tasks or processes.
You can always view the running tasks on your computer by pressing ctrl-alt-del to view the windows
"task manager", and then view the "processes" tab. This will show you all tasks running or currently active
on your PC. Although this shows you all running tasks, it does not show dll file thats are loaded, as they
get loaded as part of other processes. Many spyware writers attempt to hide their files
on your computer, for example, msgplus.exe may be intentionally misspelled to look like a similiar task, or spyware may be named very
similiar to a Windows system task. The reason they do this is so you cannot easily recognize the name in your tasklist
as I have mentioned above. Make sure always check the location of the file if you are concerned.
You can always find the location of msgplus.exe on your computer by using your Windows search options, but
I will also try to list the file location of every file described on this website, so you can verify the correct location. You can view the entire tasklist directory with the link below.
