File purpose and description:
Cssdll32.dll is a file that was most likely installed by you, it would not have come as preinstalled software on your computer. You can view the actual file location below. Spyware and virus programs often use the same or similiar file names and store them elsewhere in different folders on your computer, hoping to fool you into thinking it is a safe file. We always try to list the exact file location of each file here for this reason. This module is part of the Comodo security update. I've seen many sites report cssdll32.dll as a virus, but I think that is incorrect and is part of the security software from Comodo, just verify the location as shown below. This program is considered safe and is ok to leave on your computer. (See the details below for the actual location of this file.)
Actual file or task name: (Note that you can view the entire list here)
This is a DLL software module
File or folder location:
You may see this installed with multiple programs in your startup shown as: C:\PROGRA~1\Google\GOOGLE~1\GOEC62~1.DLL,avgrsstx.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\guard32.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\cssdll32.dll
Be aware that many tasks will be similiar names to existing tasks or processes.
You can always view the running tasks on your computer by pressing ctrl-alt-del to view the windows
"task manager", and then view the "processes" tab. This will show you all tasks running or currently active
on your PC. Although this shows you all running tasks, it does not show dll file thats are loaded, as they
get loaded as part of other processes. Many spyware writers attempt to hide their files
on your computer, for example, cssdll32.dll may be intentionally misspelled to look like a similiar task, or spyware may be named very
similiar to a Windows system task. The reason they do this is so you cannot easily recognize the name in your tasklist
as I have mentioned above. Make sure always check the location of the file if you are concerned.
You can always find the location of cssdll32.dll on your computer by using your Windows search options, but
I will also try to list the file location of every file described on this website, so you can verify the correct location. You can view the entire tasklist directory with the link below.
