I'm going to be traveling to the U.S. and I want to have airplane mode on. I want to use my iphone for pictures and videos and just use free wifi where-ever I'm at, but does anyone know if I can still imessage?

Hi! Yes imessage should still work, imessage always free. When you send it you get that popup message about airplane mode, etc, just cancel and ignore that popup and imessage will still work.
Also, make sure that the option in your settings is turned off where it says something like "send as sms text when imessage not available". Occasionally if imessage is having trouble it will automatically send it as regular text message, turn that off so you you get an error message instead, as you don't want it to automatically text regular and be charged (although in airplane mode that wouldn't work, but just saying).

When you turn on airplane mode, you can then also turn on wifi after it. Why would you do this? It's because you can then access internet anywhere in the world using wifi so that any apps you want to use that require internet work fine. You can also use imessage and facetime, both are free even if in any country because they are just used over wifi.
