Posted by Guest - Email Returned To Me Says I Sent It :|
getting emails in my inbox that says the email could not be delivered, and the sending name on the email was my emailaddress! I'm sure I didn't send this, does someone steal my password? I emailed yahoo but I'm not getting any response, I also changed my password just in case but how could this have happened?
It works like this: Viruses read email adresses from address books, and then use one of the email addresses (randomly chosen) and uses that as the sender, and sends email to all other email addresses in the list. The virus may be on any computer, not necessarily yours. It sends random emails to those in the list with the chosen sender, hoping people read it and download attachments, and spread the virus more using the adddress book again. So as you can see, it may have nothing to do with your password or email, you were just the randomly chosen sender and when an email couldn't go through it accidently bounced back to the fake sender, which in this case was you.
this is very common, almost everyone see's this sooner or later, I have a main email id and a couple junk email id's on yahoo email and hotmail , and I see it happen there too so the email service really doesn't matter
