Posted by Guest - Iphone Message Says Charging Is Not Supported : Everytime I plug the iphone into the wall to charge it, I get the message that says "charging is not supported with this accessory" and then it has the "dismiss" button soemtimes also.  It seems to charge for a bit, then this message pops up on the phone.  I use the charger that came with the iphone, not some 3rd party iphone charger or anything like that.  The phone is 5 months old but hte msg just started showing up now, but occurs again and again.  Sometimes is goes from 30% charged to 50% charged, then the message displays and it stops charging at that point.

Guest Says: I read on the internet that this is causes from dust or lint getting into the charger, so basically it's dirty on your phone.  Take the iphone and try to clean out the plug in area, using a dry toothbrush or by using some tissue paper.  This should make it charge fine again

Guest Says: If you need to identify whether its the chord or the iphone, then just plug it into your car charger.  Everyone has a car charging chord they usually buy with the phone, so plug it in and see if it has charging problems, that will identify whether or not it is a bad chord.

Guest Says: Just buy a new chord on amazon and try it because you can buy those on amazon for $2.50.  Not kidding either, chords are that cheap there, don't buy them at the apple store, get them on amazon.  That price even includes shipping, so at that price its worth it just to buy a new one and try it.

Guest Says: Same thing here, charging is not supported with this accessory .... I was continually getting this on a cruise ship and figured it was just something to do with the power connection on the ship. It just so happened the chord was bad, this message went away as soon as I replaced it.  Trust me, buying a new chord is easier then going to the apple store and standing in line.
