Posted by Guest - Macy's/aol Fraudulant Email :
Yesterday I received an email from Macy's on an aol account that I rarely use. It stated "thank you for your recent payment", and provided "log in" areas for my Macy's acct.
Since I knew that I personally had not used the acct in over one year, I contacted Macy's utilizing a phone number for customer service obtained from a previous billing statement.
Pierre in customer service told me that Macy's and AOL customers have been innundated with these emails, and that it is NOT a Macy's-supported email. He told me to delete it immediately, as it contains a virus. I asked him how Macy's would handle the situation with their customers, and he said that they would only "go public" with the information if the call volume became too great to handle. I then requested to have my email address changed to the current one. He stated that I would need to utilize the aol email address to receive a new temporary password. I feel that this is not a suitable solution, and it puts consumers at greater risk for "more phishing emails", etc.
What are your thoughts?

Macy's has nothing to do with the situation, its up to you to change your email and do whatever you want with it.

Meaning anyone can send spam and act like its from Macy's, JCPenny, or anyone else, there is no guarantee that Macy's even had anything to do with the situation
