Can I set up a security lock to prevent unauthorised use by others? Like I can do with my mobile phone? Thanks

yes, you can lock the ipod the same way you lock the iphone. Go into extras and then screen lock.  You have to set a combination just like the iphone and then use the "turn screen lock on" option ... no problem
