Unsyncing An Ipod

My daughter's EX boyfriend gave her an IPOD and loaded quite a bit of music on it. She is able to move songs from my Itunes Library onto her IPOD but she cannot move songs from her IPOD onto my Itunes. I believe this is because it was syncd on the ex's computer. Can we unsync it without her losing all of the songs that she has stored?

you used to always be able to  highlight any songs on the ipod and copy paste back to the computer, I haven't tried that in a long time but it used to work.  it wouldn't surprise me if thats a blocked feature though, the music industry might not like that :)
