Cant Connect To Internet - Cable To Dsl Modem

I just went from cable internet to dsl internet, so I switched from a cable modem to a new dsl modem. I can't connect to the internet, I'm using a linksys router. I used the linksys router on my cable modem and it connected fine, so thats not the issue, its only when connecting the linksys router to the dsl modem that it won't work.  Also, when I go directly to the dsl modem without the router, I can connect to the internet

What you need to do: First, make sure your router settings are set to automatic configuration DHCP. Then on the local IP you can set it to 192.168.1. any number. For example, set it to 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.1 is probably what it is at right now. Save it. Now turn all of it off, the computer, the modem and router, all of it. Turn on the modem and wait for all lights to light up, now turn on the router next and wait for all lights to light up, now boot up your computer. Try connecting to the internet and everything should be fine.
