Main Question - Posted From Guest:
what is the best way to avoid viruses and how do they get stpread around so easily?
Guest Says:
Believe it or not, most people get viruses because they dumb things. In other words you get a random email saying you must download or install something, and people do it, simply from an email sent to them (I don't mean emails where you ordered something, and it was sent to you, or you were actually expecting an email ... but just randomly getting joke emails or other types of things that instruct you to download). The other way is getting phishing emails which take you to fraudulent webpages or fraudulent links, where it takes advantage or browser holes. There are other ways but unfortunately simple things like this is how most of them spread.

Viruses can be avoided but still smart to use virus software. I think thats why the iphone took the method of getting every program reviewed first, and it must go through itunes. As much as people hate the fact they "control" all the distribution, it sure is nice knowing you can download any app on the iphone and not even worry about viruses.

iphone has it right, the only way to solve a virus mess that windows has, is just to have everything checked and only allow distribution through itunes.
