Main Question - Posted From Gilly:
Can I select a photo folder on an Imac and drag it to a thumb drive and how many medium size photos will a 4 Gb hold?

Guest Says:
A 4 Gig thumb drive will hold ALOT. To give you an example, and it does depend on your image size which can vary, a normal image is usually 300k (or even smaller) which is a good sized image and very good quality. In this case the thumb drive would hold over 13,000 images. In another example, if your images were 1 meg in size as some people max out their digitatl camera pictures (not sure why people do this unless they just don't pay attention to their camera settings), then it would hold 4000 images even with the huge image size assumed. As a side note, you can buy even bigger thumb drives really cheap today, I think the last one I got was 8 gig and only costs arount $15, so there are really good deals today for cheap thumb drives and still huge sizes.

also, corsair flash voyager is by far the best thumb drive I have seen, its really fast reading and writing alot of data too, if you aren't writing alot of data at once though it really won't matter on speed.

what I do with my photos is I have one folder for my photos, then individual folders with in that one folder for various photo categories, that makes it really easy then to always make sure you have all of them backed up, just drag the one main folder to your USB thumb drive anytime you want to re-backup your photos or if any new folders of images were added within
