Main Question - Posted From nicki:
Hello, i purchased an ipod nano a few months ago, and have taken up memory space already with music, so cannot add anymore, but have duplicated some songs, so wish to delete them to make room for me to add new ones, but the problem i have is that my music on my ipod wont highlight in itunes, when i plug in my ipod to computer, and so i cannot delete any songs! This is very frustrating. It is registered in my name, as my name comes up at top, everything seems fine, apart from this problem, so i wondered if you knew what i have to do to get my ipod songs to highlight, so i can then delete them? Thankyou for any help. Nicki

There are multiple options in itunes on how to copy or delete songs from the ipod. You should see multiple options on the summary tab, a couple sync options which are used t auto sync or click the sync button to manage music on itnues or an option to manage it manually. I always prefer the manual option, once you choose that then you can just highlight and delete songs or use the edit-copy and edit-paste toolbar options to copy songs back and forth.

thanks for your reply, but the problem i have is that my songs are not highlighted like they should be, they are in grey not black, so i am looking to sort that out, as i know how to delete songs once i have sorted the other problem out. Any ideas what i need to do?

Guest Says:
They will be grey if you don't have the right option chosen as stated.

i have a mac and ive uploaded music on my ipod but ive edited the songs on my itunes file because there were duplicated songs and unwanted tracks. how do i update my ipod so that it deletes the unwanted tracks

What i do to make sure I start off new, I just highlight the entire music list on the ipod holding the shift key down, once they are all highlighted I press the delete key, make sure you have the ipod selected so you remove songs from the ipod. Then just sync to get a fresh copy
