I have a file with many records I want to omit all records where field A = Field B (in the same record) Is this possible with DFSORT?

haven't tried this on omit, but I think you can say omit (1,5,eq,6,5) for example ... in other words checking first 5 bytes against next 5 bytes

Thank you Guest.. I changed the control statement to : SORT FIELDS=COPY OMIT COND=(01,04,EQ,06,04),FORMAT=CH and it works fine!!

icetool is also very good for these things, you may want to look at icetool instead of dfsort
