What Video Type Is Best? Avi, Mpg, Or Wmv?

What is the best video type for both quality and size? Most videos all seem to be avi, mpg, or wmv and some are mov.

I prefer wmv as it is very good quality and can still give you the best video compression so you still get great quality and a video size that is not bloated and huge. I also like the fact you never get those codec problems where some videos play and some don't as you get with avi and mpg videos. Wmv video types always play without codec issues. My digital video camera stores all videos as AVI format and I the fact it won't store as WMV because if I make a 50 megabyte video clip for example, and then use Windows Movie Maker to convert AVI to WMV, the video is just as clear quality and a 50 megabyte file will be 12 to 15 megabyte after converting, which is a great improvment. Thats another nice thing about WMV because anyone can make WMV videos since Movie Maker comes on all Windows pcs, if you are on a Mac then its mostly MOV types. I don't like MOV because you need Quicktime to play it, while avi, mpg, and wmv play in every video player. Just my experience but I'm sure others may have other opinions .....
