Main Question - Posted From Guest:
I hav many old software programs that do not run on Vista or will not even install on Vista, is there a way to make these install and run on vista without buying new?
Normally this is because Vista has uac, which just means that it blocks access to many parts of the hard drive and registry, and your old software programs are either trying to install into them or modify these locations and getting errors because of the uac security on vista. Right click the software programs and choose the compatibility tab, then choose the "RUN AS ADMIN" option, you will see it. This gives the software access and any windows software should run fine on vista if you follow this method.
System error, "devide by zero or overflow error"
shows when I try to open "soft key Astrologer" in Vista or xp. What should I do?
You need to contact the support for that software, sounds like they have a bug to fix.
It's nothing to do with Vista's UAC and there's no bugs to be fixed - the software was developed in the mid 90s and therefore was never developed to run on XP or any subsequent OS. While some legacy software does run on these OS, most don't. The best solution is to either install WIN95 or 98 as a dual boot, use an old pc with either of these OS already installed or, look for a newer version of the software.
