Main Question - Posted From Guest:
what does the ipod light mean (small light in corner) when I connect the ipod to the computer? Mine currently is blinking off and on an orange or amber colored light

Guest Says:
It does this all the time, nothing to worry about, when you first connect your ipod shuffle to the computer this will blink orange for a minute or so, then it should turn to solid orange color to indicate it is charging. If it turns to solid green then its fully charged. Basically when you see the light blinking orange it simply means do not disconnect, ipod is currently in use and preparing to be charged (you can copy songs to do anything you want with it).

ive been seeing blinking orange light in my shuffle since i charge it for almost an hour now. Does orange blinking light satys that long

Guest Says:
it's not charging, make sure itunes is open .... it will be solid orange if its charging, then solid green after that.

Guest Says:
it's been blinking for hours now. What to do?

Guest Says:
If its been blinking for hours then something is not connecting right, make sure your connections are all plugged in tightly and then close and reopen itunes again. It should go from blinking to solid orange, and then eventually solid green in an hour or so. The blinking should disappear within 30 seconds to a minute or so after opening itunes, so you don't need to wait an hour.

Guest Says:
By the way its also possible your USB connection has gone bad, or that the ipod chord is bad, etc. Thats rare but those things do happen in rare situations, I would also try a different usb plugin on your computer connection, to see if thats the problem

i can't listen to my music on my ipod shuffle and it keeps blinking orange and i can't download itunes on my computer. how do i fix my ipod shuffle

Guest Says:
You will need to find a way to get itunes on your computer, otherwise you won't be able to charge the shuffle. Blinking orange means its not connected properly and not charging, but needs charging.

Guest Says:
the orange light keeps on blinking..it doesn't go solid!!i tried changin the usb port!!still doesn't work!!it gets detected in iTunes can transfer music..im worried bout charging!!!

Guest Says:
Try closing and reopening Itunes, or maybe even upgrading itunes if you haven't upgraded in a long time.  It should blink orange temporarily and then go to solid orange after itunes has been opened for a short period of time.

Guest Says:
My Shuffle when turnedon blinks ---Green-Orange-Green-Orange-Green-orange after the three times I get nothing

Guest Says:
I think that means file are not playable.  Did you recently update or patch your ipod?  Try changing the settings it or buttons, to get it to play differently.

Guest Says:
my sons shuffle blinks orange 5 times and then nothing when charging via USB..and Itunes doesn't reconize? what can we do?

Guest Says:
Open Itunes first, then connect the shuffle after Itunes is already opened, then give is 10-20 seconds to recognize it and it should go solid orange light.

Guest Says:
i tried that and it didn't recognize it still.
when plugged in it flashes green for a split second-changes
to orange and then blinks orange 3 times and then the light goes off..and nothing happens I still can't charge or be recognized by ITUNES. IS this repairable or is 4 yrs
about as long as it lasts?

Guest Says:
I've had a shuffle longer then 4 years, and mine is still going strong, still really long battery life on it too which is a good sign.

Try this, I found this on the net:
If the status light blinks green, then three orange when you press a button, the buttons on iPod shuffle are disabled. Press and hold the Play/Pause button for about 3 seconds, until the status light blinks green.

Guest Says:
Please help! My ipod has orange light in the corner and it blinks the whole time..i tried two different chargers for it, and the light is blinking still orange..it also doesn't play the songs I moved to it from my computer...however, I can play those songs from the ipod when it is connected to the computer. I guess my question is: how can I make the orange light stop blinking and turn green, so I could use my ipod?

Guest Says:
Mine blinks orange until I also open itunes on the pc.  Once I open itunes it goes to solid orange.. then goes to the green light after charging a while.

my i pod shuffle(4th gen)has not stopped blinking but is charging, what does this mean?

Guest Says:
Its charging, thats fine, in todays itunes blinking is also charging, I did it with mine and when I ejected the ipod it was fully charged

Guest Says:
I honestly need help. I can still listen to music, but all the buttons are disabled. I am trying to re enable it but since the buttons are DISABLED, I can't get it to work to re enable it. I've tried holding play for three seconds right when I turn it on or even in the middle of a song but it won't help. Please someone tell me what is going on!

Guest Says:
What do you mean buttons are disabled?  This is talking about the blinking lights on the ipod shuffle, not virtual buttons disabling. (?)

Guest Says:
I have a 4th gen shuffle and was experiencing the constant blinking orange light.  what worked for me is ejecting the device from iTunes but keeping it connected to the charger.  The shuffle then began charging, and everything was good to go in about 45 minutes.

Guest Says:
theres nothing wrong with the charging... u have to reformat your ipod shuffle..

Guest Says:
My very old shuffle did the same thing...orange light blinked, then very brief green, then nothing.  Wouldn't even turn on or play.  It needs the driver updated. iTunes will do this for you.  Go to computer and turn on your iTunes.  Plug in the shuffle through its USB charger stand.  ITunes will recognize it and state "updating drivers on your device".  You will see your shuffle on the menu as being plugged in.  The light on the shuffle should now be solid orange, indicating that it is actually now charging.  Let it charge for a couple of hours.  It should be ok and back to normal after this.  Until a new driver update it needed, of course. Hope this helps.

Guest Says:
When do you know when the music has been downloaded?

Guest Says:
hello ...i m also having ipod shuffle and i ' m trying to charge but its not getting charged.. when i connect to the usb port than four times orange light blinks n than no light nothing..what does it mean.. i tried different port.. i was using that shuffle two years back n since two years it was kept ideally.. so guide me..

Guest Says:
If you havent used the shuffle in 2 years then the battery is dead, you cant leave batteries sit for years unused.  Ipod shuffles are so inexpensive now that I would just get a new one if mine ever stops working (been going strong for many years now)

Guest Says:
My iPod shuffle 1st gen charges and everything but when I turn it on from charging it doesn't do anything no lights or anything.

Guest Says:
If it wont turn on and its 1st gen shuffle, then chances are the battery has just run its course as thats quite old.

I just found my Ipod Shuffle after many month... how long should it take it to charge fully?

Guest Says:
Heh, if it sat with a dead battery for many months, you may have destroyed the battery. Typically you cant let rechargeable batteries sit at 0% and then remain that way for a long period so you may have ruined it. Try recharging it for half a day or so and see if you can get more life out of it, otherwise ipod shuffle's are fairly cheap just to buy a new one.

Guest Says:
Mine is just blinking orange for like 5x after that its off.. do does it have to blink orange constantly to know if its charging?

Guest Says:
I think the way it is today, blinking or not blinking it's still charging.  At least with my ipod shuffle there doesn't seem to be any difference, its green when I unplug later and turn it on.

By the way there is no better device for lifting weights and jogging, it's so tiny and light that I dont even know it's there :-)

Guest Says:
Mine was blinking yellow too. I ejected it it in iTunes and now it's solid green.

Toney Says:
Charging problem solved:  I connected my shuffle to the wall socket, and it would blink 4 times and then go off. I then connected it to the computer and it would blink and then go off when i tunes opened up.  I then plugged my shuffle to the computer in the log on screen and it kept blinking but charged. The way I know this is my shuffle was at 0 %.  If you having charging problems plug your shuffle in while still in the log in screen on you computer and it will blink, but also charge....

Guest Says:
When your device is connected to iTunes and you're sync'ing and adding or deleting music or podcasts, etc., the light will continue to blink orange the whole time. I believe it is still charging while that is occurring. But when you click on the iTunes eject icon, to get out of the sync'ing mode, the light will then either turn solid green if charged, or solid orange is still charging.

Jim Says:
Do they not make the ipod shuffle anymore?  I cant find it, there is nothing better for working out because I dont want to carry my iphone around in the gym. I need to buy a new shuffle but looks like they are now gone. :-(

Guest Says:
Looks like they no longer sell the ipod shuffle, thats a bummer, always liked it

Guest Says:
Thanks For Great Info As I Have An Ipod Clip On And It Flashes Green Then Orange When I Press Play Etc

IT WORKS! Says:
HERE IS HOW I FIXED IT!

1)PLUG YOUR IPOD IN A USB PORT
2)PRESS ON WIN ICON AND TYPE IN THE SEARCH BAR: DEVICE MANAGER
3)WINDOW OPENS UP, THAN SELECT DISK DRIVERS, CHOOSE APPLE IPOD USB DEVICE, LEFT CLICK ON IT AND CLICK DISABLE.
THE MOMENT YOU DO IT THE LIGHT WILL TURN SOLID ORANGE.

IT IS CHARING NOW...

BUT IN THIS STATE IT CANT SYNC WITH ITUNES, BEFORE THAT YOU HAVE TO REENABLE IT.

IT IS A DRIVER ERROR...
