Main Question - Posted From Connie:
Hi, I apologize in advance if this is not a new question, I didn't take the time to search through... this may be unique though - I read what you wrote regarding dotnetfx.exe, that it is part of the Microsoft operating system, that it is required... I found you thru a search engine, and the reason I was looking it up is, my Norton 360 firewall has this listed as a program and it is set to "block". My question is, you said the location of it isn't listed and can be found through a search - the firewall says it is in the AppDataLocalTemp folder and reads like this - {numbers&letters}dotnetfx.exe. Is this a typical location for this type of file, the Temp folder? and should I keep it blocked or change it to "allow" ? Thanks, Connie

Guest Says:
That does seem like an odd folder for the dotnetfx file, but then again these types of things are often moved around and the temp folder can be used for all kinds of different installs, program changes, etc. Normally the folder that they are located in will be named something like VSDD7BA.tmp, so thats probably fine that its located in that folder. Thats usually where you find sqlserver related programs also.
