My eye doctor is a oculoplastic surgon, and I visited him for my left eye that had been red for a month, he gave me an antiobic and said to use when I went to bed and . artificial tears yse one drop every hr. and to return in one week. After one week I returned to my doctor and he suggested Ectropion repair, with Latera Tarsorrhaphy,my eye had inproved somewhat and I toled him let's delay the surgery for a couple of weeks to see if it got better., The point is I really think since he was a plastic sergon he was pushing this oper., I have gone a week and my eye is back red and I'm thinking of going back to him, you just have one set of eyes you know. Do you think I should have the surgery. He said it would take about 30 mins. at his office Do you think the operation is the right answer? I want the best medical care when it omes to my eyes they are not replaceabale. Thank you, Joyce Winn

Why not get a 2nd opinion from a different doctor? I would go see an opthamologist (Not optometrist, but opthamologist) which is what I do for my dry eyes. There is nothing wrong with getting a 2nd opinion, not all doctors are always right and with your situation I think a 2nd opinion from a different doctor would make you feel much more comfortable.

That sounds alot like what I had, I had to use tobradex (which is a steroid and antibiotic, the tobradex cleared up my red eyes almost immediately and the light sensitivity went away). Of couse that may be much different then what you have, don't know, but if you have alot of eye sensitivity to light or sun, red eyes, and even that gritty "sand in the eye" feeling or "dry spot" on eye feeling, that sounds like what I had.
